Tanner Crandall

Founder & CEO

Tanner started Crandall Impact in 2023. Since then, he has helped dozens of small nonprofits take the next step in their journey of impact and success. Tanner works alongside nonprofit leaders to build the systems and strategic foundation necessary for sustainable growth. His work focuses on strengthening operations, improving fundraising strategy, clarifying impact measurement, and helping organizations move from reactive decision-making to long-term planning.

Tanner ‘s background is in nonprofit work. He holds a Master’s degree in Global Health from Boston University and is an adjunct teacher at BYU in Public Health where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. His certification in Mindful Leadership from Spirit Rock, shapes the way he approaches leadership, decision-making, and team development.

Before establishing Crandall Impact, Tanner spent eight years building Mothers Without Borders from the inside out. He started as an intern during graduate school and eventually grew into the role of CEO. What started as a hands-on learning experience became a deep commitment to building a nonprofit organization that could scale its impact in meaningful and sustainable ways.

During his time there, Tanner helped grow the organization’s annual budget from $500,000 to $2.5 million, expanded programs from serving 500 people each year to more than 36,000, and built an international team of 100 staff across multiple countries. He spent years fundraising, working directly in the field, leading volunteer expeditions in Zambia, supporting program development, and helping bring long-term initiatives to life on the ground.

From this experience, Tanner saw a consistent pattern across nonprofit organizations. Many leaders were deeply committed to their mission but were operating in survival mode, without the systems, strategy, or structure needed to grow their impact. That realization led him to found Crandall Impact.

He is known for bringing a practical, grounded perspective combined with real-world nonprofit leadership experience and a collaborative approach. Tanner believes that lasting impact comes from strong systems, clear strategy, and leaders who are supported in the process.

He lives in Utah with his wife Rachel and their five children and loves long walks on the beach and eating grilled pineapple. 🍍

What’s with the Pineapple?

Crandall Impact’s brand is a pineapple because it captures exactly how we see our work—and how we like to do it.

Pineapple just makes life better—nothing elevates a burger or a slice of pizza quite like it—and we believe impact should feel the same way: practical, noticeable, and a little delightful.

It’s also a nod to Psych, a favorite TV show about a small, scrappy psychic detective operation with sharp instincts, personality, and an outsized impact for the people it serves, all done with a sense of fun and adventure along the way.

And then there’s the personal side. Tanner’s family escapes to Hawaii every winter for sunshine and views of pineapple plantations during Utah’s grayest months.

The pineapple isn’t a metaphor we overthink—it’s a symbol of joy, impact, and the adventure that fuels why we do this work in the first place. 🍍
